Erectile Dysfunction Prevention

The probability of detecting erectile dysfunction in men aged 40-50 is 40%, 50-60 years old – 50%, over 60 years old – 70%. Based on many studies, impotence in 80% of cases is a consequence of certain somatic etiology diseases. Previously, it was believed that the bulk of the causes of the disease’s development is psychological disorders. Currently, there are three main types of impotence: psychogenic, organic, and mixed.

Causes of impotence (erectile dysfunction)

The development of organic erectile dysfunction occurs due to the appearance of various kinds of diseases (approximately 80% of all cases). Also, impotence can develop as a complication of the disease. The main role in the development of erectile dysfunction is given to arterial hypertension. Hypertension – increased vascular tone. Since an erection consists of filling the cavernous (cavernous bodies) of the penis with blood, the vessels supplying it must be in good condition. In the presence of arterial hypertension, blood flow through the vessels decreases, as a result of which a violation or complete absence of an erection is observed.

And here are some unexpected reasons for impotence.

  •  Hookah. Egyptian and Canadian scientists who have been collecting statistics for 30 years have found that hookah smoking negatively affects the penis muscles, thus contributing to the development of impotence.
  •  Teeth decay. Untreated teeth are the cause of impotence. When there is inflammation of the root membrane of the teeth, and adjacent tissues in the oral cavity, usually due to tooth decay, erectile dysfunction is detected in moderate or severe form.
  •  Vegetarianism. Eating meat is essential for the normal functioning of the male body. The exclusion of meat from the stronger sex diet can lead to sexual dysfunction, that is, to impotence. In vegetable food, there are no fats, with the help of which the male sex hormone testosterone is produced.

Most men tend to think that a violation of potency is associated precisely with the influence of negative psychological factors: stress, neurosis, depression, problem relationships between sexual partners. However, today it has been proven that in 80% of cases, erectile dysfunction is a consequence of internal diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular pathologies, trauma, hormonal disorders, urological infections. A mixed type of erectile dysfunction is quite common.

The provocateurs of impotence also include alcoholism, smoking, overweight. But one thing remains unquestionable: whatever the nature of potency violation, it requires close attention and qualified medical and psychological assistance. Since sexual relations are a very delicate topic, many men suffering from potency disorders often seek to hide it. Statistics show that only 10% of men who have difficulty with potency seek medical attention. Some simply do not attach much importance to their lifestyle and ignore the first signs of sexual weakness. All this can ultimately lead to severe complications, up to a complete loss of erection. It is very important to seek help from a specialist, who will make an accurate diagnosis and prescribe adequate treatment on time.

How to prevent erectile dysfunction

Whether impotence is due to physical or emotional causes, there are many cases where lifestyle changes can reduce ED problems.

Prevention methods:

  •  drink less alcohol;
  •  quit smoking;
  •  strengthen romantic relationships;
  •  exercise and eat a healthy diet;
  •  reduce anxiety.

Prevention of cortical (psychological) forms of impotence, which depend on the state of the psyche, requires compliance with a normal mode of life and work, healthy sleep, exercise, walking in the fresh air, exclusion of emotional overload, etc.

With this form of impotence, it is important to give up bad habits, and above all, alcohol abuse, the harmful effect of which on the psyche is well known. In the initial stages of alcoholism, alcoholic beverages, having an exciting effect on the mind, create the appearance of an increase in sexual potency. With the disease’s progression, it occurs an inability to have sexual intercourse while sober, and later on, after drinking alcohol. Refusal from alcohol and smoking is a prerequisite for preventing all forms of impotence. Since, as already mentioned above, alcohol has a direct toxic effect on the male sex glands, disrupting their function.

Studies have shown that both impotence and infertility are very common in chronic alcoholism, but they often occur in alcoholism, complicated by inflammatory diseases of the genital organs (prostatitis, vesiculitis, epididymitis). To prevent infertility associated with previous testicular inflammation (orchitis), timely recognition and treatment of infectious diseases are important. Parents of boys should remember this. With an increase in body temperature, general malaise, especially if it is accompanied by pain in the testicles, you should immediately see the doctor. Equally, timely detection and treatment of varicose veins of the spermatic cord (varicocele) in adolescents, boys, and young men is required. While usually left-sided, varicocele nevertheless has an adverse effect on the right testicle. It must be remembered that varicocele not only causes physical and cosmetic inconvenience but also causes infertility.

As for the spinal forms of impotence, due to the depletion of the centers of erection and ejaculation in the spinal cord, an important preventive measure should be the observance by men of the correct regimen hygiene of sexual activity. Failure to comply with these rules leads not only to sexual disorders but also to diseases of the male genital organs (inflammatory, tumor), early male menopause.

An active lifestyle is an excellent remedy for most of these problems. Besides, you should regularly see a doctor and avoid bad habits. In this case, the treatment procedure will take less time. Thus, the treatment and prevention of impotence are possible in the clinic under specialists’ supervision to achieve the best result!
